A tailored solution for every type of water

Seawater and brackish water desalination plants

Desalination is essential for guaranteeing supply water, process water and irrigation water in water-scarce regions. We study the feed water quality, final use, required production, available energy and site conditions before defining each solution.

Hidrosoluciones Canarias is a company that specialises in desalination plants in the Canary Islands and international projects. We design seawater desalination plants, brackish water desalination plants and modular and containerised desalination plants tailored to each site.

Seawater desalination plants

  • Industry and process water
  • Coastal municipalities and communities

Brackish water desalination plants

BWRO systems for reducing salinity and specific parameters in high-mineralisation groundwater, gallery water or mains water.

  • Agriculture and irrigation
  • Industry and food
  • Drinking water with post-treatment where applicable

Modular and containerised plants

Plug & Play solutions ready to accelerate assembly, protect equipment and facilitate transport to remote locations.

  • Skid or container integration
  • Scalable capacity
  • Testing and pre-assembly prior to shipment

Engineering before catalogue

Data-driven sizing

We do not select a desalination plant solely on its nominal output. We analyse peak flow, recovery, target quality, pressure, temperature, potential fouling, space, automation and the availability of operation and maintenance.

  • Review of analytics and recruitment conditions.
  • Definition of pre-treatment, membranes and remineralisation where necessary.
  • Study of rejection, washings, flushing and hydraulic integration.
  • Electrical switchboard, instrumentation, control and monitoring.
The result: a technical proposal adapted for actual use, with clearly defined scope, consumption levels and maintenance requirements.

Results-driven engineering

Industrial desalination plants designed to produce reliably

We turn every water requirement into a tailored, efficient and maintainable technical solution. We integrate reverse osmosis, pumping, instrumentation and automation to achieve the required quality and flow rate for hotels, agriculture, industry and public projects.

  • Custom design for seawater and brackish water.
  • Configuration focused on efficiency, control and operational continuity.
  • Technical support for installation, commissioning and maintenance.

IndustryProcess water, washing and equipment feed.
Communities and the public sectorSolutions with priority on reliability and maintenance.

Integrated technology

A complete plant, not just a membrane skid

The reliability of a desalination plant depends on the whole system: intake, pretreatment, high pressure, osmosis, cleaning, post-treatment, control and maintenance.

01

Pre-treatment

Filtration, dosing and membrane protection according to the raw water.

02

High pressure and RO

Pumps, diaphragms and recovery defined for the duty point.

03

Post-treatment

Remineralisation, pH adjustment and disinfection according to the end use.

04

Automation

Instrumentation, protections, alarms and operational control.

Energy and remote locations

Autonomous solar-powered desalination plants

We study photovoltaic and hybrid solutions to reduce reliance on the electricity grid or to operate in remote locations. The configuration is calculated according to daily production, the operating profile, available radiation, storage and catchment conditions.

  • Hybrid operation with grid or support group.
  • Photovoltaic integration tailored to the production profile.
  • Automation to take advantage of generation hours.
  • Modular solutions for transport and installation.
Responsible saving: solar energy can reduce consumption and costs, but the result must be calculated for each site; it does not depend solely on the nominal power of the desalination plant.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about industrial desalination

What data do you need to size a desalination plant?

Origin and water analytics, daily production and peak flow rate, use of the permeate, operating hours, available energy, space, storage tanks, intake system and conditions for managing the reject water. In human consumption projects, post-treatment and applicable health requirements must also be defined.

What is the difference between an SWRO and a BWRO plant?

SWRO treats seawater and works with pressures and membranes suited to high salinity. BWRO treats brackish water, normally with lower salinity and pressure. The ultimate process depends on the analysis, not just the stated origin of the water.

Do you manufacture containerised desalination plants?

Yes. We can study skid-mounted or containerised installations, with pre-assembly, automation and interior layout adapted for transport and maintenance. The solution is defined according to production, auxiliary equipment and location.

Can you integrate solar energy?

Yes, when the production profile and site allow it. We study photovoltaic, hybrid or backup operation, considering power, storage, hours of sunshine and required continuity.

Do you work across all of the Canary Islands?

We study projects in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Graciosa. The visit, installation, maintenance and supply are confirmed according to the island and the scope of each project.
